The seventh-best score of the week won the whole thing
DTTW are champions with 114.2 — a number six other franchises beat on the same afternoon, most of them in games that decided nothing at all.
🎣 DTTW went 8–6 in the regular season and was nobody’s idea of a favorite. It is champion, which is the only rank that survives the winter, and it got there by scoring 114.2 in the final — the seventh-highest score of the week.
Six franchises scored more. Every one of them was in a placement game.

The two best weeks of anyone’s season went nowhere
🧪 CLI put up 158.5, the highest score in the league, in the fifth-place game. It was the 28th-best week it has had in 254 tries. 🦅 Pwns went 158.3 — the fifth-best week in its short history — in the ninth-place game. Between them they scored 316.8 points and moved precisely nothing.
That is the postseason working as designed, and it is worth saying plainly rather than grumbling about: the bracket is the competition, and the regular season is the thing that seeds it. Everyone knows the rules in September.
Which is the other story
⏪ RTRO finished the regular season 12–2. Nobody else was close. It won the FHLC with 38 FHLC Points, the highest total any franchise has recorded in a season of that competition. Then it lost a semifinal, beat 👨🍳 M&R in the third-place game, and finished 3rd.
Twelve and two, a record Cup, and third.
🦞 Doug has the matching complaint: 11–3 in the regular season, second seed, and beaten in the final — 103.4 against DTTW’s 114.2.
The last word belongs to LTF
💨 LTF lost the eleventh-place game by fifty. Its 71.0 was the fourth-worst week it has played in one hundred and sixty-four, and it got there having started DK Metcalf, who was on injured reserve and could not have scored had he wanted to.
There is a version of this paragraph that is crueler. This is not the week for it — it finished 12th, which is the Sacko, and the Sacko picks last in the draft lottery. The bill for this arrives in August.
